Speaking of firefighters, Covington Fire Chief Mark Pierce said any resident who is out shoveling snow could help quicken any potential emergency response to their street if they dug out any fire hydrant they see buried in the snow -- especially if the hydrant got covered or blocked in by a plow. "That would really help us out and could potentially make a huge difference," Pierce said. Public Works and Fire officials are out looking for such places but can't get them all, he said.
